Shaheen Bagh

The amazing sit-in by Muslim women for more than three months in 2019 - 20, against the government’s denial of citizenship rights was the inspiration of this performance. Maya took the performance to protest sites across the city of Delhi. She was joined by some of the women of Shaheen Bagh. At the end of the performance, several dupattas - veils, previously collected from the women on protest, were tied to create long ropes that were then thrown into the audience that the women held and moved to the music.
